The Orientation Program is mandatory for all new first year and transfer students before registering for courses.

Attending a new college is a momentous occasion in a studentís life. We recognize that this time can be fun and exciting but is also a bit scary. The Student Orientation and Scorpion Welcome programs are designed to provide assistance and guidance throughout your college career, whether you have just graduated from high school or are transferring from another college. We are delighted to answer questions, address concerns and offer a hand in finding resources to help you get off to the right start and enjoy a successful finish at Nevada State College.

With these goals in mind, we have planned comprehensive orientation and welcome programs that are unique to first year or transfer students and the family and friends who support them.†

New Student

The New Student Orientation and Registration Program is mandatory for all new first year students before registering for courses. This program focuses on providing information on academic requirements, financial aid, academic advising, and registering for fall classes.

Who is considered new first year students?

  • recent high school graduate in the last two years

You will receive a confirmation and further information on location after your information has been verified (ie. Application and placement testing complete, transcripts received, etc.) Please remember to bring your confirmation email to check-in to the program.

Non-Traditional

Transfer or non-traditional? We have this new orientation program for you!

The Non-Traditional Student Program defines the non-traditional student as anyone who is not a first-time, full-time, straight out of high school, college student. This means that any student that identifies as any one or more of the following categories is non-traditional.†Regardless of your experience or history in college attending a new college is full of different experiences. Nevada State College provides this new orientation experience that will provide students with information about resources and academic expectations. We look forward to having you a part of our New Scorpion Family!

Who is considered Non-traditional?

  • Non-recent high school graduate
  • returning (re-entry)/transfer††
  • veteran†††
  • does not have a high school diploma (completed a GED or equivalent)

If you said yes to any of these requirements as a non-traditional student you may attend our New Non-Traditional Orientation Program.

Transfer Online

Transfer students with 30 credits or more may have the option to complete our online orientation. Just follow the link below and complete the questionnaire at the end.
