Quick Facts

Nevada State College is the newest institution and first four-year state college of the Nevada System of Higher Education. The campus is located in Henderson and is currently master-planning its 509-acre site in the southeast foothills of the Las Vegas Valley.

NSC first opened its doors in 2002 to 176 students. Over 2500 students attended classes in the Fall 2009 term and we expect Spring 2010 enrollment to be as much as 20% higher than the previous year!

NSC’s 1000th graduate will walk across the stage at commencement in May 2010!

NSC received Candidacy for Accreditation status from its accrediting agency, the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) in 2008. The college anticipates receiving Full Accreditation status in 2011.

The NSC student body is comprised of a high-percentage of those who identify as First-Generation college students (we estimate more than one-half!). About 95% are Nevada residents, about three-quarters are female, and minority ethnic groups represent more than 40% of the student body.

Nearly one-third of all classes offered at NSC have a significant online component. In the Fall 2009 term, 56% of NSC students took at least one fully-online course!

There are over 136 computer workstations available for our students. NSC offers online course registration, personal email accounts, student web hosting, Wi-Fi access, online library resources, and a full-service computing help desk!

Services are provided for students with speech and communication disorders, the hearing and vision impaired, and all campus facilities are wheelchair accessible.
