Nevada State College students have the following types of financial aid available to benefit from:
The most important step in receiving financial aid is to apply through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.fafsa.ed.gov). The process is simple and is done electronically through the federal government. Through this application, your FAFSA will be used to determine your eligibility for the bulk of financial aid available to you. It is what we use to determine if you are going to receive any grants or loans. The FAFSA must be completed every year and it is available online every January. For example, if you want financial aid for the fall semester, you can apply as early as January.
There are several steps you must complete to receive your loan.
You must complete:
1. Master Promissory Note – please visit http://www.studentloans.gov. You will use the same login information as your FAFSA PIN to login.
2. Entrance Counseling – same as above.
3. Loan Activation – once you have received your award letter, you will be able to activate your loan through your myNSC account. If you need to amend the request later in the year, please contact us at that time and we will provide addition procedures.
