Welcome to Biology

Welcome to the Biology program at Nevada State College. Contemporary biology is one of the most exciting of the sciences. The study of biology is a broad field ranging from the study of evolution and the history of life on earth to ecological balance of life forms to the structure of molecules and the genetic structure of natural populations of organisms. Biological research has led to an explosion of knowledge that will continue through the 21st century. Recent discoveries promise to unleash knowledge that will affect health, nutrition, and the environment in beneficial ways. Biological knowledge has become increasingly important in our everyday lives and in a variety of careers. As citizens we are increasingly asked to consider policy issues concerning complex biological issues.

The Biology Program at Nevada State College is committed to providing a diverse student population with the strong science background necessary to succeed in today's scientific endeavors.  The goal is to not just meet but exceed the content knowledge necessary for a successful science career, including careers in research, teaching, and health care, such as pharmacy, medicine and veterinary.  Courses are designed to best meet the goals of each Nevada State College student.  The Biology Program infrastructure provides ongoing support, guidance and encouragement to our students, as they strive to meet personal, professional and community goals.
