Transfer Applicants
Admission to Nevada State College as a transfer student will be based on the student's academic record, to include the number of transferable credits completed and the cumulative grade point average. A student can transfer with as little as 12 transferable credits completed, but can transfer more credits, up to 64 credits from a junior college or community college. Please see the Office of the Registrar page for the official transfer policy.
- Academic Preparation:
- A student must have a minimum of 12 transferable credits from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0. If a student has less than twelve credits completed, the admission will be based on the student’s high school record. Please see the Freshman Applicant page for the requirements.
- Transfer Credit:
- Courses completed at other institutions will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis at the time of admission. Each student will be sent a DARS report, indicating the courses transferred and to what requirements they apply (if any).
- Military Credit:
- For students who wish to use military credit towards admission credit and ultimately graduation credit, an official transcript from Army/ACE Registry Transcript System (AARTS) , Community College of the Air Force (CCAF), or Sailor/Marine/ACE Registry Transcript (SMART) must be sent to Nevada State College Office of Admissions.
- CLEP / DANTES Exam Credit:
- The College Level Examination Program® (CLEP) provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college courses. The DANTES/DSST program is an extensive series of examinations in college subjects that are comparable to the final or end-of-course examinations in undergraduate courses. To use either towards college credit at Nevada State College, official test scores and evaluation must be sent from the test center where the tests were taken so that Nevada State College can evaluate which exams have been taken and the credit to be awarded.
- Education Abroad:
- If a student has college or high school education from abroad, and is a US Citizen or Permanent Resident, courses from those institutions can be used towards completion of a degree at Nevada State College. Send official transcripts to an evaluating agency, request a course by course evaluation from the company selected, pay the fee and have the official evaluation sent to Nevada State College. We have selected a few agencies to choose from:
American Education Research Corporation, Inc. (AERC)
Education Records Evaluation Service
World Education Services International Academic Credential Evaluation
