Welcome to the Office of the President
Message from the President
Welcome to Nevada State College, the newest and most dynamic institution of higher education in the state. The College’s mission is to educate the next generation of professionals for the State of Nevada. The student, faculty, and staff are committed to building a better, more engaged community to adhering to our six core values which are captured by the college’s motto, iTeach, which stands for:
- Innovation
At Nevada State, we never say, “We have always done it this way.” We constantly strive to develop new programs and new approaches to delivery. - Teaching Excellence
Our primary value. Nevada State College is a teaching institution. We recruit great teachers and reward them. - Economic Development
Nevada State College’s two largest majors, Nursing and Teacher Preparation, target critical workforce shortage areas. - Assessment
We carefully measure the academic progress of our students and the quality of our programs. - Customer Service
The staff at Nevada State is totally committed to offering the highest level of service to our students in a small, personal setting. - Heritage
Nevada State College appreciates and celebrates the many cultures of the State of Nevada and is committed to providing access to the bachelor’s degree for all students.
Students come to Nevada State College for an education that will lead to a career as a respected professional. Data show that average graduates of a four-year college earn twice as much in their career as the average high school graduate (approximately $1,000,000). With day and evening classes and a large number (40%) of online courses, Nevada State is committed to helping you earn your degree as quickly as possible. Statistics show that the fast path to a Bachelor’s Degree for a high school graduate is to directly enter a four-year college, such as Nevada State College. For community college graduates, we offer a number of 2+2 programs directly tied to the curriculum at the community college. We also offer $500 scholarships to new students with associate degrees.
Nevada State has begun the process of creating a true campus for the 21st century at its site in Henderson to serve the needs of both its students and the neighboring community by providing a full range of educational, co-curricular, employment and residential opportunities. Our first permanent building is under construction with its opening slated for August 2008. In addition, the 2007 state legislature appropriated design funds for a Nursing building. An incredible college is taking shape right here in the desert.
