Beyond NSC

The power of a Nevada State College education extends long past graduation day—and well beyond the borders of our campus.

At the heart of our mission is a deep commitment to helping our students and our community succeed.  Whether it's in the classroom or in the field, we work hard to prepare our students for rewarding careers.

In the classroom, students choose from more than 20 rigorous majors that lay the groundwork for practical careers. In the lab, students complete hard-hitting and relevant research projects that teach them critical skills like attention to detail and persistence. And in the world, our students take on challenging internships that immerse them in the day-to-day life of a professional.

Our hard work pays off as our graduates enter the workforce with exceptional opportunities.  Our alumni find fulfillment as teachers, nurses, business leaders, nonprofit administrators, and more. Across the state and beyond, they’re growing and thriving—and they’re contributing to their communities and the world.

Jennifer Morss ’08, for instance, works to improve the lives of Nevada residents living with HIV/AIDS. Dave Giorgi ’07 changes children’s lives as an elementary school teacher.

We also work hard to make a difference in our community. Through community service, research, and more, we support and strengthen the fabric of our community every day.

In one recent project, for example, students from the School of Education helped local school children learn to write. In another, a class of nursing students organized a health fair for recent immigrants. And students from a range of majors volunteer their time and talents in the schools, in social service, and beyond.
